How to Replace Serpentine Belt on Acura TSX 2005 Replacement Tutorial
Acura TSX is a great car especially if it’s a 6-speed manual. However, proper maintenance is required, like replacing the Serpentine Belt on Acura TSX in time before it’s too late.
Tools You’ll Need
Difficulty Level: Easy
Time: About 30 mins
Cost: $30
Step 1: Take off the Wheel on Acura TSX
First, jack up your front right side of Acura TSX and remove the front passenger wheel. Make sure you put your vehicle on a jack stand while you work on it for safety.
Step 2: Remove Tension in the Acura TSX Serpentine Belt
You will need to use a 14mm socket and ratchet to loosen the tension pulley on the serpentine drive belt system.
Use some sort of extension bar to give you more leverage. In my case, I used 3/4” PVC pipe and pull towards you. Pull with one hand and hold to release the tension in the pulley while you remove the belt from the top large pulley. Go all the way down and remove the belt from the remainder of the pulleys and pull the old serpentine belt out.
Step 3: Install new Serpentine Belt on Acura TSX
Start by putting the serpentine belt through from the top. You will start looping the bottom pulleys first and work your way up. Follow the diagram that is shown in the pictures and make sure you look at the serpentine belt exactly this way.
First, you will loop around the pulley that is shown above with the red arrow and then loop the one with the green arrow.
Next, you will have to wrap around this big pulley as shown in the diagram above. This will be easier to do from the top but you may need to make adjustments from the bottom. Next, wrap it around the small pulley next to the big one and do the tension pulley.
You will have to release the tension on the tension pulley before you can put the serpentine belt on the top pulley. Follow the same instructions as in Step 2 to release the tension on the serpentine belt.
Step 4: Acura TSX Serpentine Belt Visual Inspection
After the belt is in place, visual check all the pulleys and make sure it is seated properly. If not you may need to engage the tensioner again and readjust the belt for proper alignment. You make also touch hard to see pulleys to see if you can feel the misalignment.
Step 5: Final Test of the Serpentine Belt on Acura TSX
Finally, start the car and watch the Serpentine belt run for about a minute or two. Again look at all the pulleys and make sure everything looks normal as it should be. This time careful not to touch the Serpentine belt in motion.
