How To Remove A Bathtub Spout, Bathtub Faucet and Shower Head?
How To Remove A Bathtub Spout, Bathtub Faucet and Shower Head? If you are remodeling your bathroom, you might need help removing your bathtub spout, bathtub faucet, or shower head. Well, in this article, I’m going to show you how to do that in the simplest way possible. Before we begin, I want you to make sure you have these tools so you don’t get interrupted in the middle of the project.
Tools You Need
Step 1: Remove the set screws underneath bathtub spout
If you look down your faucet, you’ll notice a set screw underneath it.
Remove it using a Hex key.
Step 2: Pull the bathtub faucet off
Once the set screw is removed, the next thing you need to do is pull out the faucet.
However, in some cases, the faucet might be held by the caulking or grout. Therefore, use a utility knife and cut around it to break this bond. Lucky for me I didn’t have to do that and it came right off.
Step 3: How to remove your shower head
You can remove your shower head by rotating it counter clockwise with the help of a crescent wrench or some channel locks.
However, in my case, I was able to rotate it with just my hand because it was already loose enough.
Once you remove the shower head, remove the rest of its fittings. You can even replace the shower arm if yours looks rusty and old. I have a video on how to do this here.
Step 4: How to Remove the Bathtub Faucet
To remove the bathtub faucet knob, you’ll have to take out the little pocket at its front.
The way to do that is by gently pushing a flat head screwdriver into the opening between the pocket and the rest of the knob. Basically you are trying to pry off the cap.
The cap will easily pop off.
Then you’ll notice a bolt. To remove this bolt, use a drill or phillips screwdriver.
Once you remove that bolt, the faucet knob will come off.
Then you’ll notice two more screws. Remove them with the screwdriver as well.
Now, this decorative cover will come off easily.
