5 Reasons Why I Decided to Start a Dad Blog

1. God Placed it on my Heart

5 Reasons Why I Started a Dad Blog

About 3 years ago, I got an idea to start a blog on the topic of fatherhood. This idea came to me after listening to a few different songs where the artist mentioned the lack of a good father. This sparked an interest in the subject and I quickly realized that in our society we lack good fathers. In my personal life, my dad was a decent father considering his dad died when he was 10 years old but that’s a story for another time. I began to brainstorm and ran through some blog name ideas and end up going with Daddicated. This name came from the idea that in order to be a good father you must be dedicated to your faith, to your wife, and to your kids. As time went on, I kept putting this idea on the sidelines and pursuing other hobbies and interests. However, the idea of a blog still kept coming back up and kept bothering me. So I finally decided to buy the domain and start working on it. I bought the domain and started learning the setup through WordPress and HostGator. At this point, my motivation dropped a bit and again I put this project to the sideline. In addition, being distracted by other interest deep inside I was fearful of this idea. This meant I had to put myself out there and be judged based on what I had to say. Regardless of this fear, there was something that was on my heart that kept reminding me and bugging me for this to get started. I refused but continued to pray about it and after about 3 years, I finally decided to face my fears and put all other interest aside and dive right into this thing. Therefore, if you see any mistakes or errors please be patient as I’m new to this and still in progress. I promise I’ll get better.

2. Document my Journey

By any means, I’m not a perfect husband or a perfect father. I try my best at both and often fail miserably, just ask my wife she’ll attest to that. But like many other people, I love to learn and try new things. This blog will be a great outlet for me to document my trials and share them with you guys. This brings me to the next point.

3. Encourage Other Fathers & Husbands to try Harder

I would love this blog to be a form of encouragement to other men. They aren’t alone in this journey. We can do this together. The Bible says in Galatians 6:2 for us to carry each other’s burdens. I pray that this blog acts as a form of encouragement to other men to become better husbands and fathers. Again I’m not perfect myself either but if by sharing my stories I can help encourage others then that would bring me great satisfaction.

4. Use this as a Platform to Share my Faith

In person, I’m very soft-spoken and a bit shy at first. I’ll be honest for me it’s difficult to openly and vocally share my faith with others. It’s something I want to work on to be better at. Therefore, I hope this blog will become a platform where I can share about who my God is and what he did for me and what he can do for you. Of course, I don’t want to push Christianity down anyone’s throat but all I’m asking is that you just read my testimonies and make your own judgements. In addition, I would love to share different places from the Bible that God opens up to me and just share my Christian journey with you. You can learn more about my faith here.

5. Become a Better Writer

Never in a million years did  I think that I would be writing a blog. In school, reading and writing were the things I disliked the most. Math and Science were my strengths this is why I became an Engineer. However, in the past couple of years, I’ve been focusing on self-development and what better way to improve on something your not good at than to practice it. They say practice makes it perfect and I’m far from perfect. Therefore, I ask for forgiveness from all the grammar nazis out there that will be reading my content. I’ll do my best to improve. I’m using a tool called Grammarly which is already been very helpful in correcting my grammar mistakes. Feel free to provide corrections if you feel obligated to.

In summary, here are some of the things you can expect from this blog. I’ll be sharing my life experiences, the good and the bad, seeking and giving advice, documenting things I learn along the way and sharing the gospel while I’m at it. I hope you enjoyed reading this so far and don’t forget to come back to read some more. Feel free to subscribe so you get notifications when new blogs are posted and feel free to share the article with your friends and family.

Be blessed,
Andy
